Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) final year exam update: The Coronavirus pandemic has hit the academic calendar hard. With exams being postponed due to the nationwide lockdown since March 25, college and university administrations have now started to mull over various plans to get things going. The administration has decided to conduct online exams for all final semester papers of undergraduate and postgraduate courses for the session 2019-20 proposed to be held in the month of July, 2020.
The University has released an official notification in a consultative meeting of all Chairpersons, Department of Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences through video conferencing to discuss the matters regarding the modalities for the conduct of Examination of Final Semester/term/year for Academic session, 2019-2020.
In the view of continued lockdown of the educational institutions as per direction of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and to safeguard the academic career of the students and to maintain the norms of social distancing, the end semester examination of B.A. VI Semester and M.A. IV Semester in the varsity shall be conducted through viva-voice using WebEx/Zoom/Skype in the Faculty of Social Sciences.
An AMU spokesperson said, “It has unanimously decided in a consultative meeting of all Chairpersons, Faculty of Social Sciences that the final year students of UG and PG classes will be passed only by getting online viva using video conferencing app”.
After detailed deliberations, the following was agreed upon:
- The Final Semester/Year Examination-2020 will be conducted through viva-voice using WebEx/Zoom/Mobiles with a weightage of 30 marks (Same method will also be applicable for Grand Viva-Voice examination).
- Schedule of the viva-voice examination will be displayed by the department and teacher concern must inform the Chairperson before commencing the viva-voice examination.
- It was also decided that students of final semester/year having backlog papers may be advised to submit the assignments pertaining to their backlog papers.
- The students of these departments: Mass Communication, History, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, Library Science, Education, Islamic Studies, Social Work, Women Studies, Psychology, etc. will get benefit.
